Abu dhabi: The United Arab Emirates announced on Sunday that its defense systems successfully intercepted four ballistic missiles and six drones launched from Iran. This interception comes amid ongoing conflicts involving a US-Israeli offensive on Tehran and retaliatory strikes by Iran.

According to Anadolu Agency, the UAE's Defense Ministry reported that since February 28, a total of 298 ballistic missiles, 15 cruise missiles, and 1,606 drones have been intercepted, all originating from Iran. The attacks have resulted in the deaths of six individuals of Emirati, Pakistani, Nepalese, and Bangladeshi nationalities, while 142 others of various nationalities have been injured.

The Defense Ministry emphasized the UAE's preparedness to confront any threats that aim to destabilize its security. The statement highlighted the country's commitment to maintaining its sovereignty, security, and stability, as well as protecting its national interests and capabilities.

Since February 28, the US and Israel have been engaging in military operations against Iran, leading to the deaths of over 1,200 individuals, including Iran's former Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei and key military officials. In response, Tehran has launched missile and drone strikes targeting Israel, Iraq, and Gulf countries hosting US military assets. These retaliatory actions have resulted in casualties and damage to civilian infrastructure, affecting airports, ports, and buildings.
