Drone Strikes Air Base Hosting Italian, US Forces in Kuwait

Kuwait city: Italy's military reported that Ali Al Salem Air Base in Kuwait, hosting both Italian and US military forces, was targeted in a drone attack. The incident, which occurred on Sunday morning, resulted in the destruction of an Italian drone inside a shelter at the base. However, all Italian personnel were confirmed to be safe.

According to Anadolu Agency, Italian Chief of Defense Staff Gen. Luciano Portolano announced via the US social media platform X that the Task Force Air's Italian assets at the base had been reduced recently as a precautionary measure due to the ongoing regional situation. Despite the reduction, remaining personnel continued performing essential tasks. The destroyed aircraft was deemed crucial for operational activities, and its presence was necessary to ensure the continuity of operations at the base.

The attack on the air base is part of a series of escalating regional tensions following the strikes by Israel and the US against Iran on February 28. These attacks resulted in the deaths of over 1,200 individuals, including former Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. In response, Iran has launched drone and missile strikes targeting countries in the region, including Israel, Jordan, Iraq, and Gulf countries, with claims that these strikes are aimed at "US military assets."
