Manama: Bahrain announced that its air defenses successfully intercepted and destroyed 215 drones and 129 missiles originating from Iran since the onset of the US-Iran war last month. The announcement underscores the escalating tensions in the region and Bahrain's active role in countering threats from Iran.

According to Anadolu Agency, the Bahrain Defense Force released a statement emphasizing its vigilance against what it described as "malicious Iranian aggression" aimed at the kingdom. Despite the significant number of interceptions, the statement did not provide information on any potential injuries or damage resulting from the intercepted aerial threats.

The regional conflict has intensified following joint attacks by the US and Israel on Iran, which began on February 28. These attacks have resulted in approximately 1,300 fatalities, including the death of Iran's former Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. In retaliation, Tehran has launched drone and missile strikes targeting several countries, including Israel, Jordan, Iraq, and other Gulf nations, citing these attacks as responses to perceived threats against "US military assets." The Iranian strikes have led to casualties and damage to civilian infrastructure, affecting airports, ports, and buildings in the affected areas.
