Drone Attack Strikes US Embassy Compound in Baghdad

Baghdad: A new wave of rocket and drone attacks struck the US Embassy compound in Baghdad early Tuesday, triggering sirens and the sound of interceptions, Shafaq news agency reported.

According to Anadolu Agency, details about the extent of the damage and any potential injuries from the attacks were not immediately available. The development came hours after a drone hit the upper fence of the Al-Rasheed Hotel in the Green Zone, without resulting in injuries or damage.

Hostilities in the region have escalated since Israel and the US launched joint attacks on Iran on Feb. 28, resulting in the deaths of approximately 1,300 people, including then-Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. Iran has retaliated with drone and missile strikes targeting Israel, Jordan, Iraq, and Gulf countries hosting US military assets. These retaliations have caused casualties, damage to infrastructure, and disruptions in global markets and aviation.
