Brussels: Kuwait announced on Friday that its armed forces successfully intercepted ballistic missiles and drones targeting the nation since dawn.

According to Anadolu Agency, Kuwaiti Defense Ministry spokesperson Saud Abdulaziz Al-Atwan stated that the armed forces identified and engaged with 'hostile ballistic missiles and drones' within Kuwait's airspace.

Al-Atwan described the incidents as 'sinful Iranian aggression,' which specifically targeted military sites and camps using drones, resulting in injuries to several Kuwait Land Force personnel. The injured personnel received medical treatment and are reported to be in stable condition.

In addition to military targets, several crucial civilian facilities, including a power generation and water desalination plant, were also targeted. This attack led to a fire and inflicted damage on multiple facilities and electricity-generating units. Fortunately, there were no civilian casualties, although debris falling at various locations caused material damage.

This escalation in regional tensions follows actions taken since February, when the US and Israel initiated an offensive against Iran. Tehran's response has included missile and drone strikes on Gulf countries with US military presence. Although a Pakistan-mediated memorandum of understanding was signed last month between Iran and the US to work towards peace, tensions have risen again over the Strait of Hormuz in recent days.
