Beijing: China announced that it is maintaining communication with United States officials regarding a planned visit by President Donald Trump. The announcement was made by Foreign Ministry spokesman Lin Jian, who emphasized the importance of head-of-state diplomacy in guiding China-US relations.

According to Anadolu Agency, Lin Jian mentioned that both countries will continue to discuss the details of President Trump's visit to China, although no specific information was disclosed. President Trump had previously mentioned that he is "resetting" the trip, which he expects to occur in about five weeks. He expressed his eagerness to meet with Chinese President Xi Jinping, highlighting the favorable economic relations between the two nations.

The planned visit was initially set for March 31, but has been delayed due to the ongoing conflict in the Middle East. President Trump had indicated his desire to be present in the US due to the war, feeling it necessary to remain in the country during this time of crisis.

The delay comes as tensions have risen in the Middle East following a joint US-Israel offensive on Iran, which resulted in significant casualties, including the death of Iran's then-Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. Iran has responded with drone and missile strikes on Israel and neighboring countries, impacting US military assets and causing disruptions in global markets and aviation.

Additionally, Iran's closure of the Strait of Hormuz since March 1 has prompted President Trump to call for assistance from US allies and China to help reopen this critical maritime passage.
