Qalqilya: The Israeli army detained 16 Palestinian women during military raids in the West Bank city of Qalqilya on Wednesday, according to local sources. The detentions have sparked concerns among Palestinians as they included individuals connected to former detainees and those who have lost family members in the ongoing conflict.

According to Anadolu Agency, the raids were conducted in several homes across Qalqilya and the towns of Azzun, Kafr Thulth, and Sanniriya. While two of the detained women were released after questioning, the incident underscores the tensions in the region. The Israeli army conducts frequent raids in the West Bank, which Israel claims are part of security operations targeting individuals deemed 'wanted.'

The situation in the West Bank remains tense, with at least 1,132 Palestinians killed and 11,700 injured by the Israeli army and settlers since the Gaza war began in October 2023. Approximately 22,000 individuals have been detained during this period, according to Palestinian figures.

In a significant development, the International Court of Justice declared Israel's occupation of Palestinian territories illegal in July 2024, advocating for the evacuation of all settlements in the West Bank and East Jerusalem.
