Minsk: Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko is set to embark on an official visit to Pyongyang on March 25-26, following an invitation from North Korean leader Kim Jong Un. The visit aims to bolster Belarusian-Korean relations and explore potential areas for collaboration.

According to Anadolu Agency, a statement from the Belarusian presidential press service highlighted that the discussions between the two leaders would cover a comprehensive range of topics regarding the development of bilateral relations. The agenda includes identifying key areas of mutual interest and outlining the most promising projects for future implementation.

The Belarusian press service emphasized that the upcoming visit seeks to reinforce the legal framework of the bilateral relationship and promote enhanced cooperation. Relations between North Korea and Belarus have been on a positive trajectory, marked by diplomatic and economic exchanges that reflect a shared interest in expanding collaboration.

The invitation from Kim Jong Un to Lukashenko was extended during a meeting on the sidelines of a military parade in Beijing last September, where Kim expressed openness for Lukashenko to visit Pyongyang "at any convenient time."

In a demonstration of the growing ties, a Belarusian government delegation headed by Deputy Prime Minister Yuri Shuleyko visited Pyongyang in May 2025 for a three-day engagement. This visit marked the third meeting of a joint committee focused on trade and economic cooperation, underscoring the ongoing efforts to deepen bilateral relations.
