Beirut: Hezbollah announced on Saturday that it carried out 32 attacks within the past 24 hours, targeting Israeli military sites, troops, and vehicles with an array of rockets, drones, and artillery.
According to Anadolu Agency, the militant group stated that these operations are in response to Israel’s ongoing offensive on Lebanon. Hezbollah’s attacks were reportedly aimed at military bases, troop concentrations, and armored vehicles situated in southern Lebanon and northern Israel. Among the targets were the Mishar base, identified as Israel’s main intelligence headquarters for the northern region, and the Dado base, the headquarters for the Israeli army’s Northern Command.
Additionally, Hezbollah claimed to have targeted an Israeli RC-12 reconnaissance aircraft over the western Bekaa region in eastern Lebanon, forcing it to retreat. The group also reported direct hits on a Hummer vehicle and seven Merkava tanks in the southern Lebanese towns of Qantara, Dibel, and Bayyada. There were also reports of clashes between Hezbollah and Israeli forces in various areas of southern Lebanon, including Taybeh, Bayyada, Qantara, and Shamaa.
The Israeli army confirmed that nine soldiers, including two officers, were wounded on Saturday following rocket attacks from southern Lebanon. Israeli public broadcaster Kan reported that the injuries occurred due to rockets launched from southern Lebanon, although it was unclear if they resulted from direct hits or debris from interceptors.
The conflict has intensified since Hezbollah’s cross-border attack on March 2, prompting Israel to respond with airstrikes and a ground offensive in southern Lebanon. Lebanese authorities report that Israeli attacks have resulted in at least 1,189 deaths and 3,427 injuries since the escalation began.
This latest surge in violence is part of a broader conflict involving a joint US-Israeli offensive on Iran, which has reportedly resulted in over 1,340 deaths since February 28. In retaliation, Iran has launched drone and missile strikes targeting Israel and US bases in Gulf countries.
