Yemen’s Houthis Launch Second Military Operation Targeting Southern Israel

Yemen: Yemen’s Houthis announced Saturday that they carried out a ‘second military operation’ targeting southern Israel. Houthi military spokesman Yahya Saree stated that the group launched cruise missiles and drones at ‘vital sites.’ The operation was conducted in conjunction with military actions by Iran and Hezbollah and reportedly achieved its objectives. Saree emphasized that Houthi operations would persist in the coming days until ‘the aggression’ ceases.

According to Anadolu Agency, earlier on the same day, the group publicized its first military operation against southern Israel since the onset of the current US-Israeli conflict with Iran. The Houthis claimed they launched a ballistic missile at ‘sensitive military sites’ in southern Israel. Israeli media reported that air raid sirens were activated in Dimona, Beersheba, and Eilat following the missile’s detection, marking the first launch from Yemen since the conflict began.

Hostilities in the region have intensified since Israel and the US initiated joint attacks against Iran on February 28, resulting in over 1,340 casualties, including the then-Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. Iran has responded with drone and missile strikes targeting Israel, Jordan, Iraq, and Gulf countries housing US military assets, leading to casualties and infrastructure damage, while also impacting global markets and aviation.
