Tabriz: A section of Iran's Tabriz Petrochemical Complex in the country's northwest was targeted in an attack early Monday, the company said in a statement.
According to Anadolu Agency, a US-Israeli strike hit part of the industrial facility. Safety, firefighting, rescue, and operations teams responded immediately, contained the fire, and brought the situation fully under control, it added. Engineers are assessing the technical impact and extent of the damage, the statement said.
Regional escalation has continued since Israel and the US launched an offensive against Iran on Feb. 28, killing more than 1,340 people to date, including then-Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. Tehran has retaliated with drone and missile strikes targeting Israel, Jordan, Iraq, and Gulf countries hosting US military assets, causing casualties and infrastructure damage while disrupting global markets and aviation.
