Washington: President Donald Trump stated on Tuesday that he anticipates the conflict with Iran will conclude "much longer" and expects the Strait of Hormuz to reopen "automatically" following the withdrawal of US forces. This revelation comes from a report by the New York Post.

According to Anadolu Agency, Trump emphasized in a phone interview that US military actions have significantly weakened Iran's capabilities. "We're not going to be there too much longer. We're obliterating the (expletive) out of them right now, it's a total obliteration," Trump reportedly said. He added that while more efforts are needed to dismantle Iran's offensive capabilities, the US presence will not be required for an extended period.

Discussing the strategic Strait of Hormuz, Trump suggested that the responsibility for its reopening would fall on the countries reliant on its passage. "Well, I think it'll automatically open, but my attitude is, I've obliterated the country. They have no strength left, and let the countries that are using the strait, let them go and open it . because I would imagine whoever's controlling the oil will be very happy to open the strait," he explained.

In response to a query from the New York Post regarding a Wall Street Journal report that claimed he was prepared to end the conflict without ensuring the strait's reopening, Trump remarked, "I don't think about it, to be honest." He reiterated his primary objective, stating, "My sole function was to make sure that they don't have a nuclear weapon. They're not going to have a nuclear weapon. When we leave, the strait will automatically open."
