Karaj: The death toll from US and Israeli attacks on the B1 Bridge in the city of Karaj in Iran has risen to 13, according to the Iranian Students' News Agency, citing Amir Hossein Daneshkuhan, director general of the Alborz Martyrs and Veterans Foundation.

According to Anadolu Agency, the number of casualties increased following a strike on the B1 Bridge, a key infrastructure site in Alborz province, which was targeted on Thursday. The attacks were part of a coordinated US-Israeli military operation in the region.

The Fars News Agency reported that the bridge, known as the highest in the Middle East, was among several sites hit in the Azimieh area near Karaj. The strike led to significant damage and injuries, impacting a major highway in northern Iran. The bridge was part of a significant infrastructure project slated for inauguration soon.

Reports suggest that the US military executed a 'double tap' strike, with two consecutive hits on the same location. The second strike reportedly happened about an hour after the first, while emergency responders were already on site, assisting the injured. This action has raised concerns due to the protected status of emergency personnel under international law.

This incident marks the latest escalation in a conflict that began on February 28. A US-Israeli air offensive has resulted in over 1,340 deaths, including that of then-Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei. In response, Iran has launched drone and missile strikes on Israel, Jordan, Iraq, and Gulf states hosting US forces, causing further casualties and infrastructure damage. These events have also disrupted global markets and aviation.
