Haifa: Eleven Israelis were injured and four others missing following an Iranian missile strike in Haifa in northern Israel on Sunday, the country's national emergency service MDA said.

According to Anadolu Agency, the organization reported that one of the injured was in critical condition when a missile directly struck a five-story building in Haifa. Additionally, four other people were treated for shock following the incident.

The daily Yedioth Ahronoth noted that four individuals were reported missing after the strike. Meanwhile, Channel 12 indicated that some people remain unaccounted for after a missile warhead weighing 450 kilograms directly hit the building.

The broadcaster further reported that missile fragments fell in at least three locations in Haifa, causing significant damage in the affected areas. The Israeli army had earlier announced the detection of missile launches from Iran targeting Haifa, Galilee in northern Israel, and the Negev in the country's south.

The ongoing regional escalation has been intensifying since the US and Israel launched a joint offensive on Iran on Feb. 28, which has resulted in over 1,340 fatalities, including the then-Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei. In retaliation, Iran has conducted drone and missile strikes targeting Israel, Jordan, Iraq, and Gulf countries hosting US military assets, leading to casualties, infrastructure damage, and disruptions in global markets and aviation.
