Tehran: The foreign ministers of Iran and Saudi Arabia spoke over the phone on Wednesday, a day after a temporary ceasefire between Tehran and Washington was announced. Iran's state news agency IRNA reported that Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi and his Saudi counterpart, Prince Faisal bin Farhan, discussed bilateral relations and regional developments during the call. The broadcaster mentioned that further details will be announced later.

According to Anadolu Agency, the call came after Iran and the US announced a two-week truce on Tuesday. This ceasefire aims to pave the way for a final agreement to end a conflict initiated by Washington and Tel Aviv against Tehran on February 28, which has resulted in thousands of casualties. The announcement of the ceasefire occurred just under two hours before the expiration of a deadline set by US President Donald Trump, who had repeatedly extended it for Iran to reopen the Strait of Hormuz and accept an agreement, or face 'the destruction of an entire civilization.'
