Jerusalem: Israel announced Wednesday that it has lifted nationwide restrictions following a ceasefire between the US and Iran, with measures remaining in place in northern regions.

According to Anadolu Agency, Israel’s Home Front Command stated that the decision to lift the restrictions was made after a situational assessment, with the changes taking effect at 6 a.m. local time (0300GMT). While the majority of the country will see a resumption of in-person education and the reopening of workplaces, restrictions will persist in areas near the Lebanese border, the occupied Golan Heights, and coastal parts of Haifa.

In these northern regions, educational activities will be confined to bomb shelters, and workplaces may operate only if they are in proximity to shelters. Additionally, the command has imposed limits on gatherings, with a cap of up to 200 people indoors and 50 people outdoors in these areas.

Elsewhere in the country, nearly all restrictions have been lifted, enabling schools to reopen and businesses to return to normal operations. The nationwide restrictions were initially imposed in response to the escalation with Iran, and although some measures were eased on March 5 due to economic concerns, the ceasefire has now allowed for a more comprehensive lifting of restrictions.
