France Backs Islamabad Talks on Mideast War Settlement

Paris: The French foreign minister announced France’s support for the ongoing Iran-US negotiations in Islamabad, which aim to resolve the Middle East conflict. This statement, shared by the broadcaster BFM, highlights France’s hope for positive outcomes from these talks.

According to Anadolu Agency, Jean-Noel Barrot briefly addressed the significance of the discussions during an event at the Cite universitaire de Paris. These negotiations, known as the ‘Islamabad Talks,’ are considered the most crucial talks between Washington and Iran since 1979. Pakistan is hosting these talks amid a two-week ceasefire, which was brokered earlier in the week, in an effort to bring an end to the broader regional conflict.

The war, which began with a US-Israeli offensive on Iran on February 28, has resulted in nearly 3,000 Iranian deaths, as reported by Iran’s health authorities. Additionally, 13 US servicemen have been killed, with many others wounded in the conflict.
