Beirut: The Israeli army has reported that 21 of its soldiers have been injured in southern Lebanon over the past 24 hours, increasing the total number of injured troops to 586 since early March. This announcement highlights the ongoing intensity of the conflict in the region.
According to Anadolu Agency, figures published on the Israeli army's website reveal that since the onset of the war with Iran on February 28 and subsequent military operations in Lebanon on March 2, a total of 586 soldiers have been wounded. The injuries include 37 soldiers with serious conditions and 82 others with moderate wounds. The latest count marks an increase from the 565 soldiers reported injured as of Tuesday morning.
The data also indicates that five Israeli divisions are actively participating in ground operations in southern Lebanon. Furthermore, the army has reported that 13 Israeli soldiers have been killed in the region since the commencement of the offensive on March 2.
The casualty figures remain unverified by independent sources due to Israel's stringent restrictions on reporting the impact of the ongoing conflict with Iran and Hezbollah. Since March 2, Israel's extensive military operations have reportedly resulted in at least 2,124 deaths and approximately 7,000 injuries across Lebanon, following a cross-border attack by Hezbollah, despite a ceasefire agreement established in 2024.
Israel continues to occupy certain areas in southern Lebanon, some of which have been under occupation for decades, while others have been controlled since the conflict that occurred between October 2023 and November of the following year.
