Over 2,500 Killed in Lebanon Amid Israeli Attacks Since March 2

Beirut: Over 2,500 people have been killed in Lebanon due to Israeli attacks since March 2, according to reports from the Lebanese Health Ministry. The ministry stated Sunday that 13 individuals lost their lives and 30 sustained injuries in the past 24 hours alone, bringing the total casualties to 2,509 deaths and 7,755 injuries.

According to Anadolu Agency, the escalation began following a cross-border attack by Hezbollah on March 2. In response, Israel intensified its military campaign, conducting airstrikes and initiating a ground offensive in the southern regions of Lebanon. The situation has remained tense since the United States and Israel launched airstrikes on Iran on February 28, exacerbating regional instability.

Efforts to establish peace have faced challenges. A 10-day truce was initially declared on April 16 but was frequently violated by Israeli forces. On Thursday, US President Donald Trump announced that Israel and Lebanon had agreed to extend their ceasefire by three weeks after a second round of negotiations held at the White House.
