Washington: The US State Department has approved the potential sale of the Advanced Precision Kill Weapon System (APKWS) and associated equipment to Israel. The announcement, made on Friday, states that the deal is valued at approximately $992.4 million.
According to Anadolu Agency, the proposed sale aims to enhance Israel's ability to address existing and future threats, bolster its homeland defense, and act as a deterrent against regional adversaries. The statement from the US State Department assured that Israel would be able to integrate these systems and services into its military operations without difficulty. BAE Systems, located in New Hampshire, has been designated as the primary contractor for this deal.
The US has faced criticism for its support of Israel, particularly concerning the ongoing conflict in the Gaza Strip. Since October 2023, more than 72,000 people, predominantly women and children, have reportedly lost their lives due to the conflict. Although a ceasefire was established in October 2025, reports of violations have continued. In light of these events, several American lawmakers have urged the US government to cease its arms supplies to Israel, accusing it of complicity in the conflict in Gaza.
