Ankara: President Donald Trump announced on Friday that the United States intends to take over Cuba "almost immediately," suggesting that a US aircraft carrier may be deployed near the island to enforce this action. Speaking at an event in Florida, Trump claimed that Cuba is facing significant issues, which he believes necessitate US intervention.

According to Anadolu Agency, Trump indicated that this potential takeover would follow the US-Israeli military operation against Iran. He further elaborated that the USS Abraham Lincoln, touted as the world's largest aircraft carrier, might be positioned approximately 100 yards offshore from Cuba on its return journey from Iran. Trump expressed confidence that the mere presence of the naval vessel would compel Cuba to surrender, stating that Cuba would likely concede with gratitude.

On the same day, Trump signed an executive order introducing new sanctions targeting individuals and entities associated with Cuba. These measures were justified on the grounds of addressing perceived threats to US national security and foreign policy. Trump emphasized repeatedly that Cuba is "next" on the list for US military actions, suggesting that the island nation would soon collapse under pressure.
