Ankara: Kuwait's Foreign Minister Jarrah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah is scheduled to visit Trkiye on Monday to engage in discussions with his Turkish counterpart, Hakan Fidan.

According to Anadolu Agency, during the discussions, Fidan plans to address strategies to reinforce the established mechanisms aimed at advancing bilateral relations between the two nations.

The agenda will include emphasis on cooperation in military, defense, and connectivity, reflecting the current regional developments. Fidan is also expected to underline the necessity for joint action and robust regional ownership to counter escalating challenges.

In addition, Fidan intends to communicate Trkiye's commitment to maintaining dialogue with involved parties to facilitate a favorable outcome in the US-Iran negotiations and to expedite the cessation of ongoing conflicts. He is poised to commend Kuwait for its restraint in response to Iran's targeted actions, effectively curtailing the conflict's spread.

Further discussions are anticipated regarding the importance of restoring navigation freedom in the Strait of Hormuz. Fidan is likely to criticize Israel's actions, attributing them to regional instability and conflict. The Israeli government's continued ceasefire violations in Gaza and unlawful activities in the West Bank are also expected to be highlighted, alongside concerns over the acceleration of measures undermining a two-state resolution.

Fidan is set to advocate for the advancement of a peace agreement in Gaza and improvements in humanitarian conditions and standards of living. He will also engage in consultations about the Peace Committee's work, to which both Trkiye and Kuwait contribute as founding members.

In the context of the broader regional issues, Fidan is anticipated to urge the international community to prevent Israel from expanding its occupation in Lebanon and exacerbating the humanitarian crisis.

Bilateral ties between Trkiye and Kuwait have continued to strengthen, demonstrating extensive collaboration on both regional and international matters. The two countries aim to significantly increase their trade volume, which surpassed $1 billion by the end of 2025, to $5 billion. The successful conclusion of ongoing free trade agreement negotiations between Trkiye and the Gulf Cooperation Council is expected to further enhance bilateral trade and investment.
