US Redirects 49th Vessel from Iranian Ports Amid Ongoing Blockade

Washington: The US announced that it has redirected the 49th vessel attempting to enter or exit Iranian ports under its ongoing blockade. This action was confirmed by a statement on Sunday, highlighting the continued enforcement efforts by the US.

According to Anadolu Agency, CENTCOM announced via US social media company X that 49 commercial vessels have been redirected to adhere to the blockade. This marks an increase from the 48 vessels previously reported. The statement emphasized the US forces' commitment to total enforcement of the blockade.

In related developments, CENTCOM chief Adm. Brad Cooper conducted a visit to the guided missile destroyer USS Milius, which is actively participating in the US blockade against Iran. The blockade, initiated on April 13, targets Iranian maritime traffic in the Strait of Hormuz. This move was in response to Iran's restrictions on vessel passage through the waterway, a situation stemming from the conflict that began on February 28 and is currently paused.
