Washington: The US announced on Tuesday that it has redirected 51 vessels attempting to enter or exit Iranian ports as part of its ongoing naval blockade. This move is aimed at preventing commercial ships from accessing Iranian waters.

According to Anadolu Agency, the US Central Command (CENTCOM) revealed on social media platform X that the number of redirected vessels has increased from 49 to 51. This enforcement action is part of broader efforts by American forces to regulate maritime traffic in the region.

A US sailor aboard the guided-missile destroyer USS Michael Murphy (DDG 112) was seen monitoring flight operations in the Arabian Sea, underscoring the active role of American forces in the blockade. The blockade, which began on April 13, targets Iranian maritime traffic in the strategic Strait of Hormuz. This action comes in response to Iran's restrictions on vessel passage through the waterway since the conflict that started on February 28, which is currently paused.
