Moscow: Kremlin’s spokesperson announced that the ongoing conflict in Ukraine could be resolved immediately if Kyiv takes on ‘responsibility and makes the necessary decisions.’ Dmitry Peskov, speaking at a briefing, emphasized that Kyiv knows the decisions that need to be made to end the hostilities.

According to Anadolu Agency, Peskov highlighted that Russia is continuing its ‘special military operation’ following the conclusion of a three-day ceasefire proposed by US President Donald Trump, which ended at 2100GMT on Monday. He clarified, “The humanitarian ceasefire has ended, and the special military operation continues.”

Regarding the possibility of a meeting between Russian President Vladimir Putin and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, Peskov mentioned that discussions could occur not only in Moscow but also “anywhere else.” He noted, however, that such a meeting would only be meaningful if the settlement process is completely finalized, which requires significant preliminary work.

On a related note, Russian presidential aide Yury Ushakov stated on Sunday that the resolution of the Ukrainian conflict will remain at an impasse unless Ukraine withdraws its troops from Donbas. Despite numerous rounds of peace negotiations since the conflict began in February 2022, including several mediated by the US in early 2026, no substantial progress has been made due to ongoing territorial disagreements.
