Israeli Airstrike on Gaza City Results in Casualties Amid Ceasefire

Gaza city: Two Palestinians were killed and three others injured on Saturday in an Israeli airstrike that targeted a civilian vehicle in Gaza City. The incident has raised concerns over the terms of the ongoing ceasefire.

According to Anadolu Agency, the Gaza Civil Defense Authority issued a statement confirming that the airstrike hit a civilian vehicle near Al-Wahda Tower on Al-Shifa Street in western Gaza City, resulting in fatalities and injuries. Medical sources further reported that two individuals lost their lives, while three others sustained injuries due to the attack.

The airstrike took place in an area from which the Israeli army had previously withdrawn under the ceasefire agreement. The "yellow line," marking the boundary of Israeli military withdrawal, separates regions under full Israeli control from zones where Palestinians are permitted presence, as outlined in a plan by US President Donald Trump to resolve the conflict in the region.

The ongoing conflict has led to significant casualties, with the Israeli army reportedly responsible for the deaths of more than 72,000 people, predominantly women and children, and injuries to over 172,000 individuals during a two-year war on the Gaza Strip since October 2023. Despite the ceasefire, which commenced on October 10, 2025, the Israeli military has continued its operations, resulting in at least 870 deaths and 2,543 injuries, as reported by Gaza's Health Ministry.
