Ankara: Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has initiated the European phase of his six-day international tour with significant engagements in The Hague, where he conducted talks with the Dutch royal family and prominent business figures.

According to Anadolu Agency, Modi met with King Willem-Alexander and Queen Maxima at the Huis ten Bosch Palace on Saturday, marking the commencement of a broader journey across the Middle East and Europe. This visit showcases India's strengthened ties with the Netherlands, as highlighted by Modi's address to the Indian community in The Hague. He emphasized the growing trade and economic relations between the two nations, identifying technology and innovation as critical areas of collaboration.

In addition to his royal audience, Modi is anticipated to engage in discussions with Dutch Prime Minister Rob Jetten, focusing on defense, security, innovation, and energy sectors. This aligns with India's strategic interests in enhancing bilateral cooperation in these domains.

Modi's itinerary began in the United Arab Emirates and is set to continue with visits to Sweden, Norway, and Italy. During these stops, he plans to meet with several European leaders, including a significant meeting with European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen. In Sweden, Modi's meeting with Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson aims to review and bolster bilateral relations, with both leaders also scheduled to participate in the European Round Table for Industry alongside von der Leyen.
