EuroLeague Leaders Apologize to Fenerbahce Fans for Final Four Ticketing Issues

Athens: EuroLeague President Dejan Bodiroga and CEO Chus Bueno extended their apologies to Fenerbahce Beko and its supporters for the organizational issues that marred the Final Four semifinal against Olympiacos in Athens.

According to Anadolu Agency, the apology came during a press conference in Athens, where Bodiroga addressed a question from an Anadolu correspondent about the ticketing crisis that disrupted the experience for many Turkish supporters ahead of Friday's match. Bodiroga stated, "We apologize to Fenerbahce fans and Fenerbahce club," acknowledging the difficulties faced by the fans. He elaborated that although the situation was eventually resolved and fans were allowed entry, the process did not meet the organization's usual standards.

CEO Chus Bueno also expressed regret after being questioned about the criticism directed at EuroLeague by Fenerbahce officials regarding the event's management. "We want to apologize to the Fenerbahce fans and say I'm sorry for what happened," Bueno stated, emphasizing the organization's commitment to addressing the incident.

The Final Four event in Athens drew significant criticism after many Fenerbahce supporters, despite holding valid tickets, were reportedly unable to enter the Telekom Center due to crowding and issues with the ticket verification system. Fenerbahce officials further claimed that some Olympiacos supporters gained entry without undergoing ticket checks, leaving Turkish fans outside and waiting for access.

Concerns over seating arrangements were also highlighted, as some Fenerbahce supporters were reportedly separated from their groups and seated among rival fans, raising security concerns within the arena.
