Aden: A products tanker sailing within 200 nautical miles west of the Yemeni Island of Socotra was approached by a small craft carrying five people but turned away after the vessel's armed security team was deployed, the UK maritime agency said on Saturday.

According to Anadolu Agency, the UK Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) Center reported that the Master of the products tanker indicated the small craft came as close as 100 meters. In response, the vessel's Armed Security Team was activated, prompting the small craft to change its course away from the tanker.

No additional details were immediately available following the incident. This development follows a previous report by UKMTO on Friday regarding another incident involving a tanker 98 nautical miles north of Socotra.
