Beirut: Lebanese group Hezbollah announced that it launched 12 attacks in the last 24 hours against Israeli forces in southern Lebanon and northern Israel. These assaults targeted military vehicles, drone jamming systems, and launchers belonging to Israel's Iron Dome air defense system.
According to Anadolu Agency, the attacks were carried out by Hezbollah in response to what it described as Israeli ceasefire violations and attacks on southern Lebanese villages. The group reported using drones to attack an Israeli military engineering vehicle in the southern Lebanese city of Bint Jbeil, as well as striking a technical device and a command vehicle at the Jal Al-Allam site in northern Israel, claiming direct hits.
Hezbollah further claimed that an Israeli Heron 1 drone was confronted above Lebanon's Bekaa region with a surface-to-air missile, prompting it to vacate the area. The group stated it targeted four Iron Dome launchers at the Branit and Ramim barracks, alongside three Drone Dome anti-drone jamming systems at Nimr Al-Jamal, Al-Jardah, and Naqoura.
Additionally, Hezbollah reported targeting gatherings of Israeli soldiers in Deir Siryan and Bayyada using artillery and drones. Concerns have been rising in Israel over Hezbollah's use of drones, particularly fiber-optic-guided models, which have proven difficult to detect and intercept. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has labeled these drones a 'major threat' and urged the military to develop effective countermeasures.
Lebanese officials have reported that more than 3,100 people have been killed and 1.6 million displaced amid ongoing Israeli assaults in Lebanon, which began on March 2 following Hezbollah's retaliation to the Iran war. Despite a US-mediated ceasefire intended to remain in effect until early July, Israeli attacks have continued.
