Istanbul: A Turkish-owned cargo ship was attacked by a drone in the Black Sea on Thursday night, resulting in injuries to two Turkish crew members. The vessel, carrying dry bulk cargo from Ukraine's Odessa port to Trkiye, was flagged under Vanuatu, according to Trkiye's Foreign Ministry.

According to Anadolu Agency, the incident occurred on May 28 as the ship was en route to Trkiye. The Turkish Foreign Ministry has stated that the condition of the injured crew members is being closely monitored by officials from Trkiye's Consulate General in Odessa.

The ministry expressed concerns about the risks and threats posed by the ongoing war-related escalation in the Black Sea, emphasizing the potential adverse effects on Trkiye. Officials have urged all involved parties to exercise restraint to prevent further conflict escalation.

Trkiye reiterated its call for the safety of civilian maritime navigation in the region and emphasized the importance of resolving the conflict through negotiations. The ministry also highlighted Ankara's readiness to develop measures focused on preventing further escalation and expediting the peace process.
