Brussels: Germany's Foreign Office Germany's Foreign Office has issued travel advisories discouraging its citizens from visiting Bahrain and Kuwait, citing ongoing tensions in the Middle East.

According to Anadolu Agency, the Foreign Office highlighted the "highly volatile" regional security situation and "strongly" advised against traveling to Bahrain. The advisory warned that a further escalation in the security situation could result in significant restrictions on air traffic.

Travel to Kuwait is also discouraged due to recent airstrikes from Iran. Since a ceasefire was announced on April 8, 2026, between the US, Israel, and Iran, there have been repeated isolated attacks on military and civilian targets. The Foreign Office noted that these attacks could continue in the future, posing a risk to travelers.

The tensions escalated after Iran's Revolutionary Guard announced that it had targeted a US base in Kuwait and the US Fifth Fleet headquarters in Bahrain. These attacks were reportedly in retaliation for a US strike on an Iranian communications tower. The same day saw a strike on Kuwait's international airport, resulting in one fatality and over 60 injuries, according to local officials.

In response to the attacks, Kuwait declared two Iranian diplomats as "persona non grata," further heightening diplomatic tensions in the region.
