Dublin: Ireland's Taoiseach, Micheal Martin, confirmed on Friday that the Irish government has imposed a travel ban on two Israeli Cabinet ministers. This significant move was revealed while Martin was attending the EU-Western Balkans Summit in Montenegro.

According to Anadolu Agency, Irish Justice Minister Jim O'Callaghan initiated the travel bans targeting Israeli National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir and Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich. The decision was made based on actions and statements by the two ministers that were interpreted as advocating for the elimination of Palestinians from Palestine. Martin emphasized the need for further measures from the European Union against the ministers, asserting that their behavior warranted sanctions at the EU level. However, he acknowledged the challenge of garnering sufficient support across the EU for such measures.

A spokesperson for Justice Minister O'Callaghan stated that the travel bans were implemented following a governmental agreement earlier in the week. This move marks a significant stance by the Irish government amidst ongoing tensions in the region.
