Sofia: Four US military aircraft are set to return to Sofia's Vasil Levski Airport in the coming days, Bulgarian Defense Minister Dimitar Stoyanov announced on Wednesday. He stated that the aircraft, currently linked to operations at the airport, are expected to return soon.

According to Anadolu Agency, Stoyanov emphasized that the aircraft's presence is unrelated to training flights. Instead, the mission is described as logistical support for US military activities. Stoyanov remarked, "My personal opinion is that they are logistical support for the actions of the American army."

The return of these four aircraft will increase the total number of US military planes stationed at Sofia Airport to 14. Their presence is anticipated to continue until late June, with the duration of their stay contingent upon coordination with US partners.

Stoyanov also assured that Bulgaria's security services have not identified any direct threat to the country. The deployment is officially described as non-combat, focusing on logistics and aerial refueling support for allied operations in the region.
