Tehran: Iran's President Masoud Pezeshkian vowed Wednesday to 'resist' any pressure or threat against the country's critical infrastructure, after US President Donald Trump threatened to continue military strikes against Iranian targets.

According to Anadolu Agency, Pezeshkian described critical infrastructure as 'the lifeblood of the nation' in a post on the US social media company X, condemning threats to target key civilian sectors. 'Critical infrastructures are the lifeblood of the people,' he stated. He criticized threats to target them, including transportation networks and the electricity and water industries, as a sign of desperation rather than strength.

Pezeshkian emphasized Iran's reliance on domestic expertise and national unity to face external pressures. He asserted that Iran will stand firm against any pressure or threat, drawing on the knowledge and capabilities of its specialists and the solidarity of its people.

The situation escalated after Trump announced that the US would continue to strike Iran following military attacks on Iranian targets. These attacks were in retaliation for the downing of an American Apache helicopter above the Strait of Hormuz. Trump expressed his intent to continue the strikes, indicating a disregard for the potential impact on negotiations to formally end the US-Israeli conflict with Iran.
