Tehran: Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Qalibaf issued a stern warning to US President Donald Trump on Thursday, cautioning that 'wrong strategies and impulsive decisions' could lead to significant repercussions for Washington. This warning comes in response to threats made by the United States to seize Iran's Kharg Island and other crucial oil infrastructure sites.

According to Anadolu Agency, Qalibaf emphasized in a post on the US social media platform X, that such actions could have severe consequences. He forewarned that misguided strategies could destabilize energy infrastructure and markets, creating a prolonged predicament for the United States. He also warned of a transformed response from Iran, stating, "You will see a different Iran."

President Trump, via his Truth Social platform, had earlier announced plans to hit Iran "VERY HARD TONIGHT," and mentioned the potential takeover of Kharg Island and other oil infrastructure. The intention, as stated by Trump, was to gain control over Iran's oil and gas markets, drawing parallels to US actions in Venezuela.

In a related development, the US Central Command (CENTCOM) announced that US forces had initiated additional 'self-defense' strikes targeting various locations in Iran. On the other side, Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) claimed responsibility for striking 18 significant US military targets, including air bases in Kuwait, Bahrain, and Jordan.

These developments have further intensified regional tensions, especially after US strikes on southern Iran and Iran's subsequent decision to close the Strait of Hormuz to maritime traffic.
