Paris: French President Emmanuel Macron has raised concerns about the increasing fragmentation of the international order, attributing it to the resurgence of power politics, economic coercion, and interference. Speaking at a joint news conference alongside Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney, Macron emphasized the shared commitment of France and Canada to uphold the rule of law, international order, and democratic values.

According to Anadolu Agency, Macron highlighted the necessity for democracies to be clear-sighted and strong, urging for enhanced independent decision-making capacities and resilience in economic, industrial, energy, and technological sectors. He underscored the importance of free trade based on rules, rejecting economic coercion.

Macron also reaffirmed the commitment of both nations to resolving conflicts through diplomacy, specifically in the Near and Middle East, and expressed hope for a future agreement between the United States and Iran. He emphasized the need for a robust agreement addressing nuclear, ballistic, and regional stability issues, and offered France's support in implementing such agreements, including ensuring the security of the Strait of Hormuz.

Highlighting regional stability, Macron stated that it is unattainable without addressing the situation in Gaza and advancing a two-state solution. He pointed out that this initiative, supported a year ago through a diplomatic effort with other countries, is increasingly threatened by irresponsible decisions.

On his part, Prime Minister Carney commended Macron's leadership regarding the recognition of Palestine, acknowledging the French president's role in sustaining the possibility of a two-state solution and addressing urgent humanitarian needs. Carney announced Canada's contribution of $100 million in humanitarian aid for Palestinians in the West Bank and Gaza.

Additionally, Carney revealed a new information security agreement between France and Canada, aimed at enhancing industrial and defense cooperation. This agreement will facilitate the exchange of classified information and foster collaboration in space, aerospace, and artificial intelligence sectors through joint research and development initiatives.
