Ankara: Trkiye and Syria have entered into a memorandum of understanding aiming to enhance cooperation in health and medical sciences, as announced by the Turkish health minister.

According to Anadolu Agency, Kemal Memisoglu shared on the Turkish social media platform NSosyal that he had signed the agreement with his Syrian counterpart, Musaab Nazzal Alali. This development is part of official engagements with Syria, focusing on mutual interests in health collaboration.

The agreement is designed to bolster health systems in both nations, specifically targeting public health protection, the fight against infectious diseases, and improving maternal and infant health. Memisoglu highlighted that the agreement also encompasses the exchange of knowledge and technical expertise in areas such as pharmaceuticals and medical devices, vaccine development, medical biotechnology, disaster and emergency management, health information systems, and the promotion of health tourism.

Memisoglu expressed optimism about the potential of this agreement, stating, "I believe our agreement will further advance our cooperation with Syria in the field of health, and I wish it to be beneficial for our countries."
