Washington: Lebanon and Israel concluded a second day of US-mediated negotiations in Washington on Wednesday, the Lebanese state news agency NNA reported. The discussions are part of ongoing efforts to address longstanding issues between the two nations.

According to Anadolu Agency, this round of talks marks the fifth meeting between Lebanon and Israel, with the discussions scheduled to close on Thursday. The talks are a continuation of diplomatic efforts following a US-Iran memorandum of understanding, which was electronically signed by US President Donald Trump and Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian on June 18. This agreement includes a provision that commits the parties to respect Lebanon's sovereignty and territorial integrity.

Lebanon has faced significant challenges due to Israeli attacks, which have resulted in more than 4,100 deaths and over 12,000 injuries since March 2, according to official Lebanese figures. The negotiations aim to address these and other critical issues to foster stability in the region.
