Kuwait Intercepts Two Ballistic Missiles Amid Regional Tensions

Ankara: The Kuwaiti army announced early Sunday the successful interception of two "hostile" ballistic missiles. The country's armed forces confirmed that the incident resulted in no damage or casualties, as stated by Defense Ministry spokesman Col. Saud Abdulaziz Al-Otaibi on the social media platform X. The armed forces emphasized their ongoing commitment to carrying out their duties efficiently and competently.

According to Anadolu Agency, the announcement followed a statement from Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, which claimed responsibility for launching missile and drone strikes targeting eight US military sites in Kuwait and Bahrain. These actions were described as a response to recent US attacks on Iranian positions.

The Kuwaiti Foreign Ministry strongly condemned the Iranian attacks, labeling them as "heinous" and a "blatant violation" of Kuwait's sovereignty. The ministry highlighted that such strikes undermine efforts to reduce tensions in the Middle East, asserting Kuwait's "full right" to take all necessary measures to protect its sovereignty.
