Cairo: Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty and Palestinian Prime Minister Mohammad Mustafa engaged in a comprehensive discussion regarding the situation in the Gaza Strip and efforts to bolster the Palestinian Authority, as reported by Egypt's Foreign Ministry on Saturday.

According to Anadolu Agency, the dialogue underscored the enduring and fraternal relationship between Egypt and Palestine, highlighting the significance of ongoing bilateral cooperation to empower the Palestinian government in fulfilling its duties. Abdelatty emphasized the urgency of adhering to commitments within the first phase of the US-backed plan, which includes ensuring unhindered humanitarian access to Gaza and setting the stage for subsequent recovery and reconstruction phases.

The Egyptian foreign minister also stressed the necessity of strengthening the Palestinian Authority's role in both the Gaza Strip and the occupied West Bank. Abdelatty condemned the persistent Israeli violations in the West Bank, particularly the recurrent incursions into the Al-Aqsa Mosque compound, and reiterated Egypt's staunch opposition to Israeli annexation and settlement policies, labeling them as blatant breaches of international law and a threat to the viability of a two-state solution.

The conversation also touched upon preparations for the upcoming second meeting of the Palestine Donor Group, slated to take place in Brussels on July 13. Abdelatty reaffirmed Egypt's unwavering support for the Palestinian government and highlighted the critical need for rallying international financial backing for the Palestinian Authority to ensure the provision of essential services and bolster stability in Palestinian territories.
