Ankara: Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney engaged in a phone conversation to discuss bilateral ties as well as regional and global issues, as reported by Trkiye's Communications Directorate on Saturday.

According to Anadolu Agency, Erdogan conveyed to Carney that Trkiye and Canada are striving to enhance their relationship in several key areas, including trade, security, the defense industry, and energy. President Erdogan emphasized that Ankara would continue to take steps toward achieving this goal.

The Turkish president also expressed optimism that the NATO summit scheduled for July 7-8 in Ankara would serve to strengthen cooperation among allies. Furthermore, Erdogan extended his congratulations to Carney on the occasion of Canada Day, celebrated on July 1.
