Ankara: Iceland's Foreign Minister Thorgerdur Katrin Gunnarsdottir has lauded Trkiye's performance in the defense industry, describing it as "exemplary" for NATO allies. Speaking during the NATO Defense Industry Forum (NSDIF26), held alongside the 36th NATO Summit in Ankara, Gunnarsdottir expressed her optimism about the summit's outcomes and emphasized the need for innovation and collaboration with Trkiye.
According to Anadolu Agency, Gunnarsdottir highlighted the importance of a united and strong NATO, expressing hopes for a robust alliance and significant support for Ukraine. She noted the growing opportunities for cooperation in the defense sector among NATO allies, particularly pointing to the innovative companies showcased at the forum.
Gunnarsdottir further emphasized the need for innovation and underscored Trkiye's crucial role in the defense industry. She expressed optimism about strengthening ties between Trkiye and Iceland, mentioning the potential for new collaborative ventures as Trkiye prepares to establish an embassy in Iceland.
