Ankara: Turkish Chief of General Staff Gen. Selcuk Bayraktaroglu met US Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Gen. Dan Caine in Ankara on Tuesday, coinciding with a NATO summit in the city. Bayraktaroglu extended a formal welcome to Caine at the Turkish General Staff headquarters, marking the occasion with an official ceremony.
According to Anadolu Agency, the welcoming ceremony featured the playing of the national anthems of both Trkiye and the US, after which Caine proceeded to inspect the honor guard. The meeting between the two military leaders progressed to a closed-door discussion following the formalities.
Prior to this meeting, Gen. Caine visited Anitkabir, the revered mausoleum of Mustafa Kemal Ataturk, the founder of the Republic of Trkiye. Accompanied by a US delegation, Caine paid his respects with a moment of silence and laid a wreath at the site, underscoring the significance of his visit amidst the ongoing NATO summit activities.
