Syria Sees Progress With Lifting of US Sanctions and Regional Support: President

Ankara: Syrian President Ahmad al-Sharaa announced on Wednesday that Syria has made significant progress in unifying the country over the past year and a half, attributing this achievement to the lifting of US sanctions and the support from Trkiye and Gulf nations.

According to Anadolu Agency, President al-Sharaa made these statements during a joint news conference with US President Donald Trump at the NATO summit in Ankara. He highlighted the role of the Syrian people and President Trump's decision to lift sanctions as pivotal in setting Syria on the path towards unification. Al-Sharaa also acknowledged the support from Trkiye and Gulf nations, which has been crucial in this process.

The NATO summit, hosted by Trkiye for the second time since the 2004 Istanbul summit, convened amidst growing challenges for the alliance and international security. The gathering served as a platform for discussions on pressing issues, including the situation in Syria and regional cooperation.
