Baghdad: Trkiye and Iraq are poised to finalize a 12-month agreement aimed at ensuring the continuous flow of crude oil through the Iraq-Trkiye Crude Oil Pipeline to Trkiye's Mediterranean port of Ceyhan. This announcement came from the Turkish Energy and Natural Resources Ministry on Thursday.

According to Anadolu Agency, Turkish Energy Minister Alparslan Bayraktar, during his visit to Baghdad, discussed with Iraqi Oil Minister Basim Mohammed Khudair the prospects for cooperation in the oil and natural gas sectors, focusing on the pipeline. Bayraktar emphasized the importance of utilizing existing infrastructure effectively while supporting it with new connections as part of the two countries' collective energy strategy.

Bayraktar further highlighted Trkiye's ambition to transform the Development Road Project into a significant regional energy route, in addition to its function as a trade and transportation corridor. He underscored Ankara's commitment to strengthening ties with Iraq's newly formed government through close coordination, which is expected to elevate the bilateral partnership.

The Iraq-Trkiye Crude Oil Pipeline is a crucial conduit for transporting Iraqi crude to the export terminal in Ceyhan, serving as a vital outlet for regional oil exports.
