Trump Announces US Intent to Control Hormuz Operations, Seeks Financial Contribution from Other Nations

Washington: US President Donald Trump on Monday declared that the United States is poised to assume control over operations in the Strait of Hormuz, a critical maritime passage. Trump also expressed expectations that other nations would contribute financially to the US efforts in safeguarding the strategic waterway.

According to Anadolu Agency, Trump emphasized the need for financial reimbursement from other countries for the US's protective role. "We're going to guard it. We're going to get paid for guarding it - a lot of money. We want to be reimbursed for putting our people in danger," he articulated during an interview with Fox News.

Trump also accused Iran of breaching the agreement established between the US and Iran on June 18. "We had a deal. They always break it. We're just going to hit them very hard. We'll probably run the Strait!" he stated, reinforcing his stance on the US taking a more assertive role in the region.

Furthermore, Trump described the US as a "guardian angel" and reiterated the necessity of financial compensation for the protection provided, underscoring the importance of shared responsibility among international stakeholders.
