Ankara: The death toll from last month's two back-to-back earthquakes in Venezuela climbed to 4,561, National Assembly President Jorge Rodriguez said Monday. Rodriguez reported that a total of 16,740 people sustained injuries as a result of the devastating earthquakes.
According to Anadolu Agency, the Venezuelan authorities have been actively assisting affected communities, providing aid to 128,324 families. They have established 107 temporary camps that currently house 20,231 people, while 17,907 individuals remain without permanent housing. The earthquakes also inflicted significant structural damage, with 856 buildings affected, including 190 that collapsed.
The US Geological Survey reported that two powerful earthquakes, with magnitudes of 7.2 and 7.5, struck the South American nation on June 24, exacerbating the humanitarian crisis and prompting a massive response effort from local and international agencies.
