Russia Criticizes Azerbaijan’s Stance on Ukraine as ‘Erroneous’

Moscow: Russia considers Azerbaijan's position with regards to Ukraine to be 'erroneous,' the Kremlin said on Tuesday.

According to Anadolu Agency, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov stated during a press briefing that Russia believes Azerbaijan's viewpoint on Ukraine is mistaken. He emphasized that Moscow intends to explain its perspective clearly through all available channels. Despite this disagreement, Peskov noted that Russia enjoys close relations with Azerbaijan, as well as with other countries that share Azerbaijan's stance, which Russia categorically disagrees with.

Peskov described the disagreement as a "point of disagreement" but expressed confidence that it would not overshadow the bilateral relations between Moscow and Baku. He highlighted a pragmatic approach in maintaining the partnership between the two nations.

On the other hand, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev reaffirmed his country's unwavering support for Ukraine, advising Ukraine not to agree to occupation. He emphasized Azerbaijan's consistent support for Ukraine's territorial integrity, sovereignty, and the inviolability of its borders. Aliyev made these remarks during the 4th Shusha Global Media Forum, reiterating Azerbaijan's readiness to assist Ukraine in any possible way.

Peskov also addressed comments made by German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, suggesting that the European position on Ukraine demonstrates an "impasse." He argued that excluding Russia from security discussions would make it impossible for European countries to participate effectively in the settlement process.

Additionally, Peskov dismissed allegations of cyberattacks by the EU, claiming that such accusations against Russia are unfounded and lack evidence. He further commented on the UK's recent sanctions against Russia, coordinated with the EU, which aim to counter Russia's alleged attempts to cause chaos and division across Europe.
