Armed Clashes Result in 8 Deaths and 16 Injuries in Al-Dabbah

Sanaa: Eight people were killed and 16 others injured in armed clashes in Sudan's northern city of Al-Dabbah, a Sudanese medical group said Wednesday. In a statement, the Sudan Doctors Network reported that the clashes erupted on Tuesday evening in the city's market between local factions. The group did not specify the identity of those involved or the cause of the confrontation.

According to Anadolu Agency, Sudanese media, citing the Al-Debbah city security committee, indicated that the clashes involved groups accused of drug trafficking. Despite the severity of the incident, there has been no official statement from authorities regarding the violence or the groups involved.

The Sudan Doctors Network has expressed concerns about escalating lawlessness and the proliferation of weapons among civilians in Al-Dabbah. They have called on Sudanese authorities to launch an urgent investigation into the violence and hold those responsible accountable.

Sudan has been mired in conflict since April 2023, when fighting erupted between the army and the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF) over plans to integrate the paramilitary force into the military. This ongoing conflict has triggered one of the world's worst humanitarian crises, resulting in the deaths of tens of thousands and the displacement of millions.
